r.
4
.
y
f
7
Dr, Gordon stated that an amended dock permit added pilings
to the channel in Popponesset Bay, and the Harb rraster was
concerned that it was approved without waterway ' s approval.
Dr, Gordon recommended that representatives from Waterways,
Conservation, and Shellfish Commissions yet together to review
dock permits with all affected agencies 'at one time, which
hopefully will be better- for everyone and avoid problems.
Meetings should be scheduled every 21 days based on Concom
regulations. Mr-. Hanks stated this should be a coastal Resource
Management function and suggested coming up with a list of
specifications re: docks. Mr. Silver expressed concern with
giving Waterways Commission power away to- Coastal Resources
which is only an advisory group, Dr, Gordon recommended
organizing a sub committee in which the Harbormaster and/or
Waterways Commissioner and Shellfish Commissioner are part of
- the process for the purpose of
( l ) making sure no one slides through the cracks and 2
determining guidelines . re: the design of docks. Dr. Gordon
noted that waterways can assign the Harbormaster to represent
Waterways. Mr. Homeyer suggested sending a formal request to
Coneom statins that whenever any dock reviews come up to notify
Waterways as well as the Building Inspector ( since the structure
requires a building permit) . Dr. Gordon stated that the goals
should be to not have excessive length on does , maintain safety,
and decide on placement of lights on docks, etc, Dr, Gordon
expressed the ideal would be to have Concom, waterways, and
Shellfish representatives review dock permits at the same time.
It was agreed to form a dock review sub committee. A motion
was made, seconded, and unanimously voted to explore the idea
of one-stop shopping for dock permits where representatives
of Commissions and Committees are present with the goal t
determine feasibility and rules and guidelines for proper dock
design and construction,
Mr. Hanks stated he will not be attending the April meeting
due to his being out of the country next month.
The meeting adjourned -at 8: 55 .rn.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary l sthore, oard secretary
