MAHEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES SEPTEMBER 11 , 1995 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:, Jim- Hanks , Ben Gordon, Herb Silver, <br /> Fred Fordham, Dan Homeyer, Don Lund, <br /> William Rowland <br /> Also Present: Perry Ellis , Harbormaster <br /> Rick York, Shellfish Warden <br /> CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at p.m. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: . Three residents were- present to check on the <br /> progress relating to the Mashpee River. - Ed Baker asked if <br /> Iashpee River is on the A enda., .and Mr. Hanks stated yes , .item <br /> #3' Dredging. fir. Hanks obtained copies of expired permits and <br /> is drafting a statement of -wor] . En 1neering services will <br /> renew- the permits for the two Bays and' initiate a permit for <br /> the Masee River. Ed- Baker asked about the status re: the <br /> money available for undesignated harbors per the Harbormaster' s <br /> statement at the last Coastal Resource Management Committee <br /> meeting. Mr. Hanks stated he has not pursued this yet, but <br /> the money would be of no use until permits are in place. Ed <br /> Baker stated that the reason the 1986 dredging did not occur <br /> was because of the objection to it by the Penuisset Cove <br /> residents. Ed Sinkiewicz stated that the Pirate ' s Cove <br /> Association installed 10 catch basins to stop street water from <br /> going into the Mashpee River, and they will continue their <br /> maintenance efforts . r. Baker thanked the Commission for th i r � <br /> efforts re: the Mashee River, and Mr. Hanks thanked them for <br /> coming. <br /> George Ryan read . a Memo to the Mashpee Waterways Commission <br /> on behalf of the John' s Pond Ski Team proposing to utilize one <br /> area of John ' s Pond for a slalom course for practice purposes <br /> during September and October starting at 3 : 00 p.m. The course <br /> will be located 300 ft. off shore in front of the Ryan residence <br /> and will remain stationary. Ir. Ryan reported that he was given <br /> a one-month trial -period by the Selectmen in May, buthe was <br /> delayed due to problems with the. Aqua Sink. !r. Reran .doe s not <br /> plan to use the Aqua Sink since there is no boat traffic in <br /> th'i s area during the week in the fall. Harbormaster Ellis stated <br /> that he is not in opposition to this ;proposal in September and <br /> Oc-tober. Mr. Ryan stated that the Club has liability insurance <br /> up to $1 , 000, 000 , and that the three boats involved are' covered, <br /> Mr. Ryan stated that he did not think the Town of Mashee would <br /> have any liability. Mr, Homeyer stated that the Town would <br /> have to be relieved of responsibility. D . Gordon asked if <br /> all the neighbors have been asked and have given their approval. <br /> Nor. Ryan stated that there are two people opposing- the course <br /> who live on the street. Donna Homeyer raised the question about <br />
