i
MA SAMPEE CONSER VA TION CO"S
RO, BOX 208 MASES, MA 02649
November 2 , 1996
Mr. Janes Vaccaro, Chairman
Mashpee ToWn Hall Building Committee
16 Great Neck Road Forth
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Tear Mr. Vaccaro.-
The
accaro:The Mashpee Conservation Corps is a group of full- and part-tine Mashpee residents
who volunteer their services to build and maintain walking trails on Town conservation
lands, install and maintain bluebird boxes and osprey poles and participate in other
conservation-oriented projects. In doing so,Iwe have relied entirely on donations from
local businesses and individuals to provide the necessary materials and equipment.
As Amy husband mentioned to you a number of months ago,we are very interested in the
possibility that here may be materials left over from the Town Mall renovation project
which could be of use to us in our work. More specifically,we wonder if you would
allow us to salvage the pressure treated decking material used in the existing handicapped -.
access ramp to the portables, as well as the walkway installed to service the temporary
office trailers behind the building. We would like to cut the decking into - ,foot
sections for future use in constructing "prefabricated" bridges and boardwalks where
needed on trails.
The work would be clone by qualified members of the Corps under the direction of a
number of professional builders and carpenters who have volunteered to assist with the
project, including Mr. P tri k Coffey and fir. Dennis Balzarini. given cooperative
weather, we believe that the jab of removing the decking could be completed over one
weekend, once the trailers have been removed and pending your schedule.
Your favorable response to this request would be very much appreciated. Should you
need additional information or wish to meet on the subject, please contact Tom at the
Planning Department. We will look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Renee King Fudala, President
Mashpee Conservation Corps
xc: Conservation Commission
