3 <br /> Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 28, 2019 <br /> Continued Review& Approval of May 6, 2019 Annual Town Meeting Warrant: (continued) <br /> Two new articles are proposed for the May 2019 warrant. <br /> Article #11: To adopt, by local option,the additional 3% local sales tax on the sale or <br /> transfer of marijuana or marijuana products by a marijuana retailer operating <br /> Motion made by Mr. Pettengill to approve and recommend Article#11 as written. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Avis. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Richardson,yes Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. Avis,yes <br /> Mr. McCahill,yes Mrs. Furbush,yes <br /> Mr. McKelvey, absent for vote Opposed, none <br /> FinCom Explanation: This article would add a 3%tax on marijuana sales within the Town. <br /> Article#12: To transfer from available funds; $50,000 to be expended under the direction of <br /> the Mashpee 150th Anniversary Committee with approval by the Board of <br /> Selectmen, for the purpose of funding the Town of Mashpee Sesquicentennial <br /> Celebration in 2020. <br /> It was noted the original request was for $179,000, and it has been reduced to $50,000. To <br /> adhere to M.G.L. regarding procurement,the Board of Selectmen would approve and administer <br /> all expenditures to ensure compliance. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Avis to approve ad recommend Article#12 as written. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Pettengill <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Richardson,yes Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. Avis,yes <br /> Mr. McCahill,yes Mrs. Furbush,yes <br /> Mr. McKelvey, absent for vote Opposed, none <br /> FinCom Explanation: To add second sentence: Oversight of said funds will be administered by <br /> the Board of Selectmen. <br />
