6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 22, 2019 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and Approval of the Following Special Event Temporary Sign Permit and One-Day Liquor <br /> License: Amival Beach and Back Half-Marathon: Racewire: (continued) <br /> It was noted the Police Department requires 16 detail officers for traffic control, security and public <br /> safety. The Department of Public works has indicated that access to the Middle/High School would not be <br /> permitted until after 2:00 p.m. on June 8, 2019 due to graduation. All trash and portable restrooms must <br /> be removed by the end of the day of June 9, 2019. Debris generated by the event should be cleared. The <br /> applicant is also required to provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming the Town of Mashpee as <br /> the additional insured. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the inconvenience to residents as it relates to parking and temporary <br /> road closures. It was agreed the area residents should be adequately informed of the event. To increase <br /> awareness Ms. Houten indicated that a flyer would be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service notifying <br /> each homeowner on the course. It was highly recommended the applicant receive permission from the <br /> effected homeowner associations who should be well informed of the road race and road closures. <br /> In considering the concerns of the Mashpee residents it was recommended the applicant meet with the <br /> Board of Selectmen in advance of the race planning to possibly change the venue to May and allow for the <br /> Board of Selectmen to select the Town of Mashpee organization that would benefit from this race. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cotton to approve the Special Event Application of RaceWire for the <br /> Beach and Back Half Marathon and 5k on Sunday,June 9,2019 as presented to include the One <br /> Day Liquor License,wine and malt and Temporary Sign Permit Application contingent upon final <br /> approval from the homeowner associations on any private ways within the route of the event. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Opposed, none <br /> 6 <br />
