Collins, Town Manager Board'of Selectmen FROM: Tl oma.s C.R-alto,Fire Chief RE: BCSC Dispatch contract Description: The PSAP and Radio Dispatch System is to be operated by the Sheriff. All Mashpee Fire Department 911 emergency calls will be answered by the Mashpee Primary PSAP located at the Sheriff's Off-ice Com nur ications Center, as well as the seven digit fire department emergency,for call processing and dispatching over Mashpee Fire frequencies. The Town of Mashpee shall maintain the ability, within the Mashpee Police Department Dispatch Center, to serve as-a back-up fire department dispatch system. B ac4rou.nd: This is the standard annual contract for the services provided by the B C S o Dispatch Center, Past five fiscal years' history: Fiscal Year 2019 Combined Fee for Fire Dispatch and CMED: $103,972.92 Fiscal Year 2018 Combined Fee for Fire Dispatch and CMED: $104,024.41 Fiscal Year 2017 Combined Fee for Fire Dispatch and CMED: $106,665.89 Fiscal Year 2016 Combined Fee for Fire Dispatch and CMED: $74,211.47 Fiscal Year 2015 Fire Dispatch Fee: $82,320.00; CMED Fee: $8,576.00 (Total-, $90,896) Recommendation: The Fiscal Year 2020 Proposed Contract is- for a Combined,Fee for Fire Dispatch and CN/IED of$118,7 5 3,4 S. This represents a 14.2 % increase from FY 19, however FY18 &FY 19 were actually less than FY17. Comparing the proposed contract to FYI 7, it represents an 11.2% increase over the 4 years. Further,this contract has been budgeted in the FY20 expense budget. Pros and Cons: The department is required to have a third party dispatching services as we do-not have the ability-to manage or staff our own PSAP. I will always continue to evaluate other cost effective dispatching options which meet the needs of our commaunity.
