5
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
July 15, 2019
Discussion of the Previous Meetings Held:
Economic Development—Affordable Housing_
There was previous discussion regarding the future development of a 6.5 acre site; Town owned
property on Commercial Street. Selectman Carol A. Sherman recommended the Town move
forward with a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of workforce housing. The site is
near public transportation, and within walking distance to Mashpee Commons and local
businesses.
In considering this proposal is was recommended that mixed-use housing be considered in lieu of
workforce housing.
With regards to the 950 Falmouth Road affordable housing project it was disclosed the Town has
a tentative agreement with Preservation of Affordable Housing and the Housing Assistance
Corporation (POAH/HAC) to execute a Master Development Agreement. The project design was
reviewed last week and there was a contribution from the Affordable Housing Trust to
compensate on the differential performance with respect to nitrogen levels.
As a result of the focus with the 950 Falmouth Road affordable housing project there have been
no discussions on the 209 Old Barnstable Road parcel, a 3.8 acre site previously considered for
affordable housing.
It was noted that Town owned property located to the rear of the Mashpee Town Hall may be of
interest for future affordable housing. This property and other developments in the area should be
considered with the future construction of the Site 4 WWTF.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion made by Mr. Balzarini to adjourn at 7:30 p.m.
Motion seconded by Mr. Cotton.
VOTE/Roll Call: Unanimous.
Respectfully submitted,
r
Kathleen M. Soares
Secretary to the Board of Selectmen
