MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> July 17, 2019 -7:00 P.M. <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL, OCKWAY MEETING ROOM <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Present: Virginia Scharfenberg, Pamela McCarthy, Irene Checkovich,Anthony Oliver, Michael <br /> Talbot,Stephanie Simpson, Mohamad Fand <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Virginia Scharfenberg opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. <br /> MINUTES of June 19, 2019 were approved. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE <br /> None. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Update on policies and funding structure/meeting with Asst. Town Manager and Town Finance <br /> Director (Virginia) <br /> Virginia reviewed notes from meeting with Asst. Town Manager and Town Finance Director. <br /> Additional questions remained. Virginia & Irene will follow up with Dawn Thayer in next month or <br /> SO. <br /> • MCGAC update on web site and link for Donors <br /> Virginia agreed to contact Technology Dept. on that. <br /> • Garden Status and Fencing Work Day <br /> The Board decided to do fence raising on Aug. 4, 2019. We will contact all gardeners for help. <br /> Purchase of 150 additional feet of fencing will be needed. Anthony agreed to research <br /> appropriate lock mechanism for extended gate that will be part of the raised fence. <br /> • Status of 2020 reconfigured garden <br /> Michael,Virginia, Stephanie and Anthony agreed to meet soon to start the detailed planning. <br /> Asst. Town Manager Wayne Taylor needs to be contacted for list of approved contractors. <br /> A meeting should be scheduled with DPW sometime in September or October so that old garden <br /> demolition and new garden construction can start. DPW assistance with demolition would be <br /> particularly helpful and would save CPC funds. <br /> The Town or perhaps Cavossa Excavating or Nauset Disposal could be contacted for donation of a <br /> dumpster if needed for demolition debris. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> No update on Cape Cod Community Garden Network and not likely to be one for several months. <br /> Newspaper articles and publicity will be discussed as plans start taking shape for 2020 garden. <br /> 1 <br />
