Taylor; Department of Public Works Director Catherine <br /> Laurent <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Collins at 4:05 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Popponesset Meeting Room <br /> MINUTES: <br /> March 19, 2019: <br /> Motion made by Mr. Richardson to approve the minutes of March 19, 2019, as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Gasior. <br /> VOTE: 5-0(Gottlieb absent). <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Collins, yes MS. DeBoer, yes Mr. Gottlieb, absent <br /> Mr. Gasior, yes Mr. Richardson, yes Ms.Thayer,yes <br /> Opposed, none <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Discussion of Additional Funding for Department of Public Works Storage Garage <br /> (Mr. Gottlieb arrived at 4:10 p.m.) <br /> Catherine Laurent informed the Committee that the Fiscal Year 2019 Capital Improvement Program funding <br /> request of$125,000 for the DPW Storage Garage was based on an estimate provided by Morton Buildings. <br /> The project was put out to bid with deadlines of the following dates: April 17, 2019 (No bids received); May <br /> 22, 2019 (One bid was received from Collins Construction and was rejected as the amount was way above <br /> the $125,000); August 5, 2019 (One bid was received from Collins Construction for a total of$174,500).The <br /> DPW Director stated that the bid was acceptable if funding was available for the remaining$49,500 that was <br /> over and above the amount allotted in the Fiscal Year 2019 approved CIP budget. Finance Director Dawn <br /> Thayer stated that there are monies available from the $1.5 Million bond done previously to fund various CIP <br /> projects. She further stated that Town Counsel has ruled that the expenditure is fine without the need for <br /> Town Meeting action. The Town Manager agreed that the shortfall should be funded by the unused portion <br /> of the bond. Mr. Gottlieb asked if the cost of steel is what caused the cost to rise so much. Ms. Laurent stated <br /> that she believes it was due to the labor costs going up. <br /> 2 <br />
