SOUTH CAPE BEACH STATE PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE-PUBLIC SESSION <br /> Mashpee Town Hall-Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Tuesday June 11, 2019 <br /> Committee Members Present <br /> Jeralyn Smith (Chairman),Joseph Bohnenberger, Robert Lancaster, Perry Ellis, Mike Sweatman <br /> Also Present <br /> James Rassman, Conor Laffey <br /> Called to Order <br /> The Chair called the meeting to order 5:05pm <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> None <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Perry Ellis stated that the dates were incorrect. The date of the meeting was September 12, 2018 and <br /> the next meeting was June 11, 2019 as May 22 was Election Day. A motion to accept the minutes as <br /> amended was made by Robert Lancaster and seconded by Perry Ellis. It was approved 5-0. <br /> WBNERR REPORT <br /> Jim Rassman introduced Conor Laffey,the new park supervisor, who delivered the report.The winter <br /> was uneventful but erosion has occurred over the last 3 weeks affecting the beach and Washburn Island. <br /> A large algae plume has developed. The bridge to Sage Pond has been restored and boards on the <br /> boardwalk have been replaced. Six plover nests are being monitored. The chicks should be fully <br /> developed by the height of the season. Two new seasonal workers have been hired bringing the staff to <br /> three full time workers. Seals have been observed in the sound and one inside the jetty. The swim <br /> buoys have been installed. There will be no lifeguards on duty and signage has been posted. Kiosk rates <br /> are the same as last year. Tours are being offered to Veterans in honor of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. <br /> Hunting in the Park <br /> No issues were reported concerning hunting in the park last season. A motion to continue to allow <br /> hunting for the next season was made by Perry Ellis and seconded by Joe Bohnenberger.
