certificate in blood-borne pathogens that meets the OSHA standard, and the proposed curriculum
for micro-needling training at the Academy of Advanced Cosmetics, in Georgia.
Mr. Harrington advised the board, as a comparison, that the Board of Health minimum
requirements for bodyworks is 600 hours. There is no minimum for body art; however, Ms.
Compton's transcript does show 600 hours of base training. For a special bodywork discipline,
the local regulation requires 45 hours in that specialty. The training for micro-needling is a week-
long course. The Academy of Advanced Cosmetics curriculum does include sterilization and
anatomy. The aesthetics training included sanitation, skin disorders, anatomy and sterilization.
Mr. Harrington's opinion was that the combination of the aesthetics training and the specialized
micro-needling training at the Academy of Advanced Cosmetics meets the requirements to obtain
a permit. Ms. Langler requested documentation from the micro-needling course that shows the
number of hours of training. Mr. Harrington reiterated that there is no minimum training
requirement for body art.
The board agreed that completion of the micro-needling and micro-blading courses would satisfy
the requirement to obtain a permit; however, it was requested that, upon completion of the'
training, Ms.Compton provide a syllabus for each of the courses.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Board of Health was scheduled for Thursday,August 22,2019 at 7:00 PM.
There being no further business,Mallory Langer moved to adjourn the Public Session Meeting of the Board
of Health at 9:02 PM.
