3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 23, 2019 <br /> Public Works Director Catherine Laurent: (continued) <br /> In discussing the operation of the Transfer Station it was recommended the DPW Director review <br /> options for local contractors to dispose of construction debris. <br /> Discussion and Approval of Award of Contracts for the Following: <br /> Road Salt: Eastern Minerals: <br /> Agricultural By-Product: Safe Road Services: <br /> Through the Plymouth County municipal bid process it was recommended the Board of Selectmen award <br /> the Regional Road Salt bid to Eastern Minerals, the lowest qualified bidder in the amount of$52.80 per <br /> ton. This is a decrease of 1% from FYI 9. <br /> The contract for Agricultural By-Product was recommended to be awarded to Safe Road Services for the <br /> low qualified bid of$1.28 per gallon. The cost is reflective of a 3% increase from FY19. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to award the regional bids from Plymouth County to Eastern <br /> Minerals for Road Salt and to Safe Road Services for Agricultural By-Product as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br /> Tree Removal Update: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works indicated that(4) large trees in front of the Town Hall facility <br /> are slated for removal. The trees are in poor condition, and disfigured by frequent pruning from utility <br /> lines. The trees will be replaced with smaller growing species. <br /> Additional aging Elm trees located along Route 130 are also planned for removal. In process, immediate <br /> abutters are adequately notified when tree work is scheduled. It was noted there is an unsafe tree in need of <br /> removal located in the area of Botelho Lumber on Route 28, a State road. The owner has been contacted <br /> and notification has been referred to the Commonwealth. <br />
