Brief Resume
Ra tiara Lynne Barbee
I am the daughter of a career Air Force officer, so I have lived all over the world, including
Falmouth, when my father was stationed at Otis AFB. I have family on the Cape, which brought
me back here when I retired.
I worked as a free lance photojournalist for many years, in the US, Latin America, Central
America, Africa and the Middle East. I've also worked for non-profits, including community
groups, international aid organizations, and unions.
I moved to Mashpee in 2014, when I retired after 23 years as an organizer for SEIU District 925
and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). In my
union work in over 23 states with public employees, I learned an appreciation of local and state
government, and the essential services they provide.
By upbringing and work experience, I am deeply committed to public service. Serving on a
Town Committee is one way I can give back to my community. Also, it is how I learn about this
community. I currently serve on the Mashpee Human Services Committee. I also volunteer at
the Mashpee Senior Center, am a trained CERT volunteer (in Falmouth, since Mashpee no
longer has a CERT team), and serve on the Board of our homeowners association.
As a retiree, I have time to donate and would be honored to serve on the Community
Preservation Act Committee.
PS: I go by my middle name, Lynne
