Mashpee Middle School School Council Minutes — November 17, 2011 Attendance: Sheila Arnold, Patricia Morano, MonaLisa Valentino, Kim Daigneault, Laura Franks, Pauline Reilly Absent—Kevin Frye The meeting convened at 2:19pm. Committee unanimously approved minutes of the October 20, 2011 Meeting. Communications: Old Business Over the past few months parents have been asked to provide their input as to the possibility of a uniform dress code at the Mashpee Middle school. With over 70 emails— the final count showed 61%in favor and 39% opposed. Opposition included the fact that there are two buildings in one and the middle school would stand out if they were dressed differently from the high school. Finances were also a concern. With discussion from all members a motion was made to forward our recommendation to the school committee to open it up for public comment. The motion unanimously passed. A sample uniform dress policy was developed and approved as a basic dress plan to use as a starting point for further discussions. The council agreed to look at the student handbook at the next meeting to review the dress code wording and to see how a new dress code would be added if eventually approved. New Business The council was informed about the December 13, Dining for a Cause at the 99 Restaurant and how it works. The DC Traveler's will receive 15% of the total amount of guest checks that are accompanied by a voucher. The council also heard about the December 3,Winter Breakfast. Students who are willing to serve as waiters and waitresses will earn money toward the cost of their DC Trip. The event will be done as a full service breakfast in the high school cafeteria. Menu items include French toast, frittatas etc. Other: Meeting was adjourned at 3:00pm
