r
Doug explained they ran 2 separate tables, under existing zoning with on site treatment,, at 3
milligrains per liter, but thought 35 is overly conservative and ran it again at 20. The tables show
the difference of nitrogen loading that would occur with current zoning with on site septic
systems and higher density but with a treatment system.
Duncan'mood's guesstimate for the cost of j ust the pipeline and disposal areas is between $1.6
and$2.2 million to push 200 gallons per day from the rotary to New Sea bury. The operating
cost will go up with volume.
John Callahane asked how much of the town can be put on this pipeline?
It depends on the capacity at the other end, for the disposal area.
Andy Gottlieb and Fields Point representatives left the meeting.
Continuation of Meeting with Sewer Commission members:
Brad said he has a better feeling from this meeting that everyone agrees with this-idea, of the
pipeline,because it makes sense.
e also believes it males sense to tie the Wi llowbend treatment plant into the pipeline.
John Callahane believes we will run into the same problem a's everything else -money.
Residents will ask why they are paying for this.
Tom explained the pipeline will he paid for mostly by Mashpee Commons along with
Windchime and Talanian.
The residents on the bays will also benefit, and they should share in the cost.
Brad said if the pipeline is built, the town doesn't take over any plants but the discharge is
removed from the Mashpee Rive-watershed, everyone wills see that as a benefit.
Worn said we have to hook in the existing development or there won't be any improvement to the
River. We need to use economies of scale to tie others in cheaply.
Brad thought this was the most productive meeting the Sewer Commission has had.
Meeting adjourned at 9-45 p.m.
NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING:WEDNESDAY, 1 A lath 7:00 P.M. TOWN HALL
Mnutes submitted by Arden R. Cadrin
