*APPROVED 3-2-2020* <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 16, 2020 <br /> Present: Town Manager Rodney Collins, School Representative Patricia DeBoer Member-at- <br /> Large Charles Gasior (arrived at 3:30 pm), Selectman Andrew Gottlieb, Finance <br /> Committee Member Michael Richardson, Member-at Large Edmund Sarno, Finance <br /> Director Dawn Thayer <br /> Attendees: Assistant Town Manager Wayne E. Taylor; School Information Technology Director <br /> Sean Moroney, Town Information Technology Director David DelVecchio, Town <br /> Planner Evan Lehrer <br /> Also Present: Selectman Carol Sherman <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Collins at 3 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Popponesset Meeting Room <br /> APPOINTMENTS& HEARINGS <br /> School Department FY2021 CIP Request: $486,000 <br /> The School Department's original CIP requests included items for the School Buildings and Mr. <br /> Collins pointed out that these types of items belong under the Planning & Construction <br /> Committee's submissions and were discussed at the meeting on January 15, 2020. The <br /> Superintendent asked the Committee to consider the MMHS Library Furnishings request as well <br /> as the others.The Committee agreed. <br /> Replace MMHS Library Furnishings Total Funds: $150,000 <br /> Superintendent DeBoer explained that the current furnishings in the MMHS Library are outdated <br /> and are no longer suitable for the space as it is now being utilized. The School Department is <br /> requesting furniture that is more useful to the students to use the room appropriately. The CIP <br /> Committee members had no questions. <br /> The School Information Technology Director Sean Moroney gave a quick overview of the <br /> technology requests from the School Department. <br /> Chromebooks- MMHS and Quashnet Total Funds: $45,000 <br /> This item is to continue the program to provide Chromebooks for all students at MMHS and <br /> Quashnet. Mr. Sarno asked-why the school used Chromebooks to which Mr. Maroney responded <br /> that they work best for this type of use,there are free upgrades included after the initial purchase <br /> and this item continues the four-year cycle for these computers. Mr. Sarno also asked if the <br /> children lose them and Mr. Collins asked about vandalism to them and the School IT Director said <br /> very few are lost and the family is held responsible for replacement if lost or damaged. Mr. Sarno <br /> also inquired as to whether certain websites are blocked to which Mr. Maroney responded that <br /> there are many that can't be accessed, such as social media sites and there are many filters for <br /> web access.The Committee had no more questions. <br /> 2 <br />
