School Committee Meeting Minutes January 8, 2020 Present were: Geoff Gorman, Nicole Bartlett, Don Myers and Chris Santos; absent: George Schmidt. Also present was Patty DeBoer, Hope Hanscom and Paul Funk. 1. Call Meeting to Order/Pledge of Allegiance Mr. Gorman called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM 2. *Ratify Agenda of January 8, 2020 The agenda of January 8, 2020 was ratified by the school committee members 3. Public Hearing on the FY2021 Mashpee Public Schools Budget Ms. Bartlett made a motion, seconded by Mr. Santos to open the public hearing at 5:35 PM. Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mr. Myers, Mr. Santos, Ms. Bartlett and Mr. Gorman; opposed - none. ❑ Mrs. DeBoer presented the recommended school budget proposal The School Committee will review and vote on the proposal at the January 22, 2020 meeting. Cl Mr. John Miller, community member and parent asked the Committee a question regarding School Choice funds Mr. Santos made a motion, seconded by Mr. Myers to close the public hearing at 5:40 PM. Roll Call Vote: In favor-Mr. Santos, Mr. Myers, Ms Bartlett and Mr. Gorman; opposed - none. 4. Public Comment No public comment. 5. Quashnet School Share Out-Principal Mary Kate O'Brien The Student Council presented a presentation and powerpoint outlining their kindness initiative in the schools and the community. Dave Williams, 6 grade teacher is the Quashnet School advisor. 6. Report of Student Representative Skyla Rimple Skyla Rimple presented an informative update on the recent happenings at MMHS. 7. *Approval of December 11, 2019 minutes Ms. Bartlett made a motion, seconded by Mr. Santos to approve the minutes as presented.
