I
The Board of Selectmen opened the Public Hearing by reading aloud the notice relative to a proposed parking ban
on Back Road., Cranberry Avenue, Highview Avenue, Hilltop Road, Hoophole Road and Valley Road in Mash
pee
in the area of John's Pond.
Larry Hedt, a resident of 240 Hoophole Road indicated he is a member of the board of'directors of the Briarwood
Association. As a member he expressed appreciation to the Board of Selectmen for their rapid response to the
overcrowding emergency at John's Pond. The residents are pleased the signage has been installed appropriately
with gate attendants on duty and police cruisers visible in this area.
With regards to the proposal to install permanent no parking signs Mr. Hedt indicated h a*
p e is agnst the
i
plan as the problem tends to arise during the summer over a few weekends at the expense of the town. Before the
Board of Selectmen takes action it was recommended the residents of Back Road and Hoophole Roads give input
to the proposal. There appears to be a speeding problem and signage does not seem to work on the narrow roads.
Cranberry Avenue resident Sam Singer stated he is also against the signage proposed on Hoop hole Road. The
noise on the beach is the problem. It was suggested the town charge a fee for beach access to gain income, and
possibly prohibit fires in the John's Pond picnic area.
