This would, in my mind, be a dire public safety concern as people may sip off of a larger bottle
with less consciousness of how much they are actually consuming.
In addition, I strongly believe that banning nips is not going to change the drinking habits of the
consumers who purchase nips.
This will not stop the littering problem and will stand to put Mashpee liquor license holders at
an economic disadvantage. During the current Pandemic this is not the time to put anyone at a
financial burden.
Also, many customers don't just purchase nips but other items in the store. Banning nips could
lead to losing an entire sale.
In the end . I do believe the most important thing to consider is public safety and the
environmental issue of littering. I think the key factor is to work with Rep Hunt on a state-wide
basis to rectify this problem. I don't believe working individually on a town to town basis is the
ideal solution.
I want to thank the Board of Selectmen in advance for taking the time to hear my opinion and
concerns.
My thoughts are submitted with due respect and with the hope that the town can manage this
issue in a manner conducive for all.
Respectfully,
Barbara Rymsha
Owner, South Cape Wine & Spirits
