*DRAFT* BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES JULY 27, 2020 3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 27, 2020 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Public Chan gyg;� <br /> The Board of Selectmen opened the Public Hearing on a proposed change of the speed limit on Simon's Narrows <br /> Road from thirty(30) miles per hour to twenty-five(25) miles per hour. The Hearing notice,was read aloud <br /> into the record in accordance with posting requirements. <br /> Ed Chuk a resident of Simons Narrows Road indicated there is a posted 30 mph speed sign at the'beginning of <br /> Simon's Narrows Road that very few adhere to. Reducing the speed limit and adding signage such as Slow <br /> Children or Caution Children. for safety reasons may alleviate accidents. Town Manager Rodney C. Collins <br /> indicated.this matter has been brought to the attention of the Mashpee Police Department'and it is the <br /> recommendation of the police department to lower the speed limit on Simon's Narrows Road to 25 mph for safety <br /> reasons. <br /> Being no additional comment, the Board motioned to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Weeden, yes opposed;none <br /> Motion made by Selectman O'Hara to change the speed limit on Simon's Narrows Road from 30 mph to 25 <br /> mph as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Gottlieb. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Selectman Sherman, yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Weeden,yes Opposed, none <br /> Public Hearing,: Private 5jg r ins Town Prqpet <br /> The Board of.Selectmen opened the Public Hearing,to consider a request made by Jacques Morin, Trustee, <br /> Ockway Highlands Realty Trust LLC to erect a.free-standing sign within the 50' road layout of Great Neck Road <br /> South and on the corner of Blue Castle Drive. The proposed sign is intended to identify the Ockway Highland's <br /> subdivision located between Blue Castle Drive and Degrass,Road. <br /> In accordance with posting procedures, the Hearing notice was read aloud into the record. Jacques Morin, Ockway <br /> Highlands Realty Trust was present to review the signage request with the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Morin' <br /> indicated the project was reviewed with,the Design Review Co'mmittee last year, and requires the final approval of <br /> the Board of Selectmen,of the layout. A 44"x,48"nautical sign is proposed. <br /> Mr. Morin indicated the signage would clean-up the look of the area currently clustered by mailboxes. There are a <br /> few homes under construction., and the sign would 'give new buyers a sense of community, and create an identity to <br /> the residents of the Ockway Highlands development. <br />
