In July of this year a representative from Stryker Medical offered to provide the Town
with three units (Version 4) at a cost of$55,095 including trade-in of the old units (Version 2). The
cost of buying the three new units and supplemental associated equipment would ordinarily be in
excess of$150,000 and Stryker has agreed to extend this deal until afterthe October Town Meeting
in order for the Town to authorize the funding. Deputy Chief Phelan added that this purchase could
help extend the life for up to a decade.
Mrs. DeBoer asked if the new ambulances come with this type of equipment to which the Chief
replied no.
Mrs. Thayer stated that she agrees with the use of Ambulance Receipts for this purpose, but wants
to be sure that when these new assets are recorded with the Town that the full value of them is
recorded and the trade in is listed separately for accounting purposes. So the record should reflect:
total cost minus trade-in = net cost
