'the discussion moved to New Seabury where the Chair noted that there was no space for an additional
treatment center. The proposed buildout for New Seabury is 200,000 gallons. Mr. Gregg suggested the
possibility of doubling the recharge capacity and rebuilding the golf course. Mr. O'Hara questioned the
expansion possibility at New Seabury and Mr. Gregg responded that if the golf course is being considered,
the plant should be doubled to address New Seabury's needs and still handle the orange high density area.
Mr. Gregg added that it is costly to retrofit but a new technology could improve the process. It would be
necessary to maintain treatment at the facility. Attendees discussed the variety of options for converting the
plants. Mr. Lombardo described options such as drip irrigation, water re-use systems, PRBs and re-injection.
The Chair questioned the Falmouth CWMP for Seconsett Island and Mr. Lombardo reported that the Citizen
Committee dismissed the MMR option and requested that wastewater go to the existing treatment plant and
then sent to multiple disbursal areas and Seconsett Island was moved to Phase 3. The Chair expressed
concern about the information.
Commission members discussed New Seabury and the 30 acres available on the Keeter Property for a
treatment plant. Regarding Popponessett and Monomoscoy Island, it was suggested that a vacuum pump run
under Monomoscoy. Mr. Lombardo responded that the most cost effective option should be considered.
Use of a PRB was discussed. The Chair suggested that 1 scenario will include an on-island cluster and the
other scenario will be a pipeline. Mr. Gregg suggested addressing the mainland first and look at adding de-
nites on the islands. Attendees discussed the 1001/o need to remove nitrogen and Mr. Lombardo stated that
74% of parcels required advanced wastewater treatment and must be severed or have a nitrogen removal
system in place. Mr. Lombardo suggested that with close distances, the clusters will not be cost competitive.
Mr. Lombardo suggested, that for under$10,000 a nitrex system can be added to the de-rite system to bring
them up to AWT.
MEETING ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 19 at 7 p.m.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mr. Marcelli. Mr. Klenert seconded the motion. All
voted unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:53 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jennfer2iffo
Board Secretary
LIST OF DOCUMENTS
-Flushing Energy?
-Nitrogen Pollution
-Consequences of Nutrient Pollution
-Solutions
-Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) Workshops
-Cape Cod Commission's Citizen Forums for Wastewater Planning.
7
