Mashpee Watershed Nitrogen Management Plan
Community Advisory Committee 10-19-10
In conjunction with MEPA and Cape Cod Commission review of Mashpee's Watershed
Nitrogen Management Plan, and with the work plan for the project, the Sewer Commission
and Board of Selectmen established a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the
project in October 2001.
The CAC members have three primary tasks:
1) to review / familiarize themselves with the project and all of the project documents
generated by our consultants,
2) to provide the Sewer Commission with their opinions / input on the proposals generated
by the project (in the case of town representatives we consider their input a semi-formal
indication of their town's position) and
3) to help educate the organizations / towns that they represent and the general public
about the project and resulting proposals.
The Committee does not have a formal structure or to meet independently from the Sewer
Commission. The members are invited to attend meetings of the Sewer Commission on the
project and to provide input verbally at the meetings or in writing at any appropriate time.
The makeup of the CAC is as follows:
One representative each designated by the Mashpee Board of Health, Waterways
Commission, Conservation Commission, Shellfish Commission and Historical
Commission as well as the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce, the Mashpee
Environmental Coalition and the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribal Council
One resident from each of the Town's 5 voting precincts, appointed by the Board of
Selectmen.
Representatives appointed by the adjacent towns of Falmouth, Sandwich and
Barnstable, portions of which are included in the project study area.
The current membership of the Committee is as follows:
Mashpee Board of Health:
Burton Kaplan
Mashpee Conservation Commission:
Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent
Mashpee Historical Commission:
Lee Gurney, Chairman
li
