MASHPEE CULTURAL COUNCIL
MINUTES AUGUST 13, 2020 via Zoom
PRESENT: Nina Cocomazzi, David Egel, MaryKate O'Brien, Mary Alice Stahleker, Bill Nay,Andrea Watson. Missed:
Winnie Graham
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by MK O'Brien at 10:00 am. MK noted that there was no one in the Zoom waiting room;
she will monitor it for any visitors.
MINUTES
The minutes of the December 2, 2019 meeting were unanimously APPROVED on motion by D. Egel, seconded by
N. Cocomazzi. (It is noted that the scheduled meeting of June 23 was not held because of COVID-19 restrictions.)
TREASURER'S REPORT
N. Cocomazzi reviewed the information received both from the Webinar meeting held with Massachusetts
Cultural Council (MCC) on August 3 and that received via email. Everything is pushed back a month due to
COVID-19: Applications will be available October 1, 2020 with a deadline of November 16, 2020. We do not
know when panel books will be received. Allotment to MCC and local councils from the state will most likely
be delayed until the second half of November. It was reported that the state mandates that every town
receive at least $1,000 so we are assured of at least that amount.
Due to COVID-19, grant monies not spent by the deadline of December 2020 can be rolled over into the next
year, a change from prior years. Because of fiscal year and other dates not being in alignment, reimburse-
ments from this year's grants will have to be reimbursed by October 15, 2021. Discussion ensued on how to
best notify grantees who have not yet sought reimbursement of these changes. It was agreed that a letter
should be sent to each affected grantee whose project is not completed to update them on changes, seek
status of their project and their intention as to whether they will move forward, reapply or withdraw their
request. The new reimbursement deadline of October 15, 2021 will be noted, and we would request that
grantees respond to our letter no later than September 30, 2020. N. Cocomazzi and A. Watson will prepare and
send such a letter.
VOTE—On motion made by MA Stahleker, seconded by D. Egel, it was unanimously voted to extend the time
period for reimbursement from 2020 grant cycle until October 15, 2021,
MK O'Brien is unable to continue as Chair because of Mashpee school commitments. She will remain on the
Council. B. Nay agreed to a second three-year term.
VOTE—On motion made by D. Egel, seconded by MK O'Brien, the following were unanimously elected officers
to take effect immediately.
N. Cocomazzi and A. Watson —Co-chairs; MA Stahleker—Secretary; N. Cocomazzi—Treasurer
NEXT MEETING
Next meeting will be after September 15 with no date set at this time; most likely to be held via Zoom.
ADJOURN
The meeting adjourned by unanimous consent at 11:04 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Alice Stahleker, Secretary
