Ken reviewed the written response he provided to
the mooring holder explaining the complexities and time lines associated with dredging.
Principally that a registered USCG channel does not exist to serve the launch area nor does the
Town of Mashpee have permits in place permitting dredging to create a channel. Further that
any action we decide to take affecting Ockway Bay would take 2-3 years to get the necessary
permits/licenses.
Old Business:
Harbormaster Report:
Jeff reported that he has started getting ready for the winter. He has ordered winter sticks for
all aids to navigation and will begin installing after Oct 15th. He will be replacing 11 foam buoys
and noted he is continuing his efforts to standardize all buoy hardware. Now that things are
quieting down the Office is starting to revamp up for end of season maintenance. Boats will
begin to be hauled out later this month and all should be out of the water by 9/26 when all
seasonal employees will have left.Jeff noted that all the boats had a lot of hours put on them
this season.
Ken asked about monitoring parking issues at the boat ramps and Jeff responded that issue is
a police matter.Jeff has fielded complaints but the eyes of his department are on the water not
the parking lots. He made it clear he has no authority to monitor parking nor does he want it.
