ohn Swartzbaugh
..........
M ashDee, MA 02649
2020 JAN 23 AM 11,k24
January 21, 2020
Board of Selectmen
Town of Mashpee
16 Great Neck Road Forth
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Honorable Members of the Board of Selectmen,
I am most interested in being considered for the Member-at-Large vacancy on the
Conservation Commission for the Town of Mashpee.
I have maintained a residence in Mashpee since 1993,living here either part-time or
full-time over those years. I believe my long-standing interests in preserving the
environment would serge the Town of Mashpee well as a member of the
Conservation Commission.
I am retired, having worked most recently as a consultant for Dooz Allen Hamilton
on environmental and sustainability issues for a variety of government clients.
Throughout my career, my principal specialty has been in strategic communications
on environmental and energy issues. I am a two-time recipient of the Public
Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil Award, the Oscar of the
communications industry, for developing the nation's best crisis communications
campaign and the nation's best campaign to enhance an organization's image with
its key stakeholders.
I also am a former member of the Mashpee waterways Committee from 2000-2005,
having served for a time as chairman.
I have an MBA from the University of Illinois and a Crisis Communications
Certificate from the Harvard/MIT Dispute Resolution Center.
I hope you agree that my experiences and skills would be of benefit to the Mashpee
Conservation Commission.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Since ely,
hn Swartzbaugh
