February 13, 2020 Mr. Andrew Gottlieb, Chairman Mashpee Board of Selectmen 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 Dear Chairman Gottlieb; I.submit this letter of intent to fill a vacancy for a full-time Conservation Commission seat. My wife and I purchased a home at several years ago and are now living here on a permanent basis. We are thrilled and fortunate to be spending our retirement years in such a beautiful place! I have served on Conservation Commissions over many years for the Town of Clinton and the City of Leominster as both commissioner and as Chairman/Vice-Chairman, conditioning hundreds of private and public development projects as well as infrastructure reconstruction proposals so as to insure the protection and integrity of associated wetland resource areas. As you would expect, I have a thorough working knowledge of MGL c. 131 § 40 and possess strong communication skills from my 3 8 'ears of teaching in the field of environmental sciences both at the secondary and college levels. During my years working at Simmons College in Boston I was awarded several teacher enhancement grants from the National Science Foundation(NSF) for Internet based environmental monitoring projects that I had written along with interactive database applications. These teacher enhancement grants were used to develop environmental science monitoring skills and computer training for K-12 teachers and their students throughout all of New England, I have a passion for the environment and would be appreciative for the opportunity to provide my knowledge and experience in helping to ensure that the wetland and coastal resources of Mashpee continue to receive a high level of environmental stewardship.
