9 <br /> Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> September 17, 2020 <br /> Explanations Article 5 and Article 20: (continued) <br /> Article#20 (Gooseberry Island)—Jeff <br /> FinCom Explanation: This article authorizes the appropriation and transfer of funds from <br /> revenue available for appropriation, in an amount to be determined at the time of the land's <br /> appraisal, to pay for the acquisition of the piece of property known as Gooseberry Island. It also <br /> authorizes the Board of Selectman to acquire said property for open space, conservation and <br /> passive recreation purposes under the Community Preservation Committee. This property has <br /> been classified as Private Land of Conservation Interest in the Town's Open Space, Conservation <br /> and Recreation Plan. The Town's acquisition of this property is in line with this Plan's <br /> prioritization of publicly acquiring and preserving Mashpee properties which provide scenic <br /> landscapes and vistas. This will have no impact on the tax rate. <br /> Motion made by Mr. McKelvey to amend the explanation of Article 18. <br /> There was no second. Motion does not carry. <br /> There is no change to the explanation as presented. <br /> Acceptance of Chairman's Letter to the Voters for the Finance Committee Report: (continued) <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Furbush to accept the Chairman's Letter to the Voter's for the <br /> Finance Committee Report as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Brady. <br /> An edit to the Letter to the Voters referencing seven volunteers when there are currently six <br /> members with one vacancy was suggested by Finance Committee member John Miller for re- <br /> wording.
