The decision lies on the
Town Moderator who should be communicating with the Town Manager and Board of
Selectmen soon. Currently, there are many assumptions with potential adjustments in moving
forward with this new challenge. It is the objective of the Board of Selectmen to present an
objective and influential overview of the warrant and its articles at Town Meeting while ensuring
the safety of attending citizens.
The Finance Team was scheduled to make a financial presentation to the Board of Selectmen on
June 1, 2020. Under the direction of Town Manager Rodney C. Collins, the Finance Team will
focus on the deadlines for COVID-19 and FEMA reimbursements.
After the financial presentation it was recommended the Finance Committee call a special
meeting to review the future recommendations of the Board of Selectmen. The Finance
Committee agreed to this approach.
With the understanding of the pandemic, the Board of Selectmen at this time has not taken any
further action on the warrant other than agreeing to the consolidation of the warrant articles and
taking reasonable measures to preserve public health. Facial coverings will be required for those
attending Town Meeting with appropriate social distancing in the gymnasium. If required, the
cafeteria would be utilized as back-up with the Deputy Town Moderator facilitating this portion
of the meeting.
It was suggested that an alternative meeting room be arranged for the joint meeting between the
Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee prior to the onset of Town Meeting for the
adherence of social distancing.
It was recommended the Finance Committee review the financial impacts of COVID-19 in
comparison with other like towns.
