'
a
Report of the Board of Selectmen
To the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
19-61 was a very busy year for all departments of the
Town, many difficult problems, and emergencies were en- .I
countered, decisions were made, to the best of our knowledge
considering all concerned.
There are many problems still facing the Town in 1962
which must be resolved, and can be met by the alert coopera-
tion of all Officers, and Departments of the town.
Plans are being developed for certain sections of the town,
which when completed, will add much revenue. Expenditures
will also increase in many departments.
i
The population has greatly increased, but with the new
addition to The Samuel G. Davis School, which was com-
pleted in 1961, we were able to care for the education of our
Children in a very satisfactory manner.
The Public Library has not been moved from the school L
grounds, because land has not yet been obtained..,:
The Highway Department has done a fine job of keeping
our roads clear of ice and snow, maintaining them in a very
fine manner. Chapter 90 contracts carried out, and work on
the completion of Cotuit Road will be resumed.
The Fire Department has done a splendid job in pro-
tecting us from fire loss, it is well equipped, and manned.
This department keeps our wood roads open as fire lanes,
and is the only way we are able to keep our ancient ways
passable.
Construction has been started on the boat launching
ramp at Mashpee Neck, and will be completed in the spring.
