31
Report of the Public Health Nurse
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
The past year has been an active and interesting ex-
perience. I have become acquainted with still more citizens
in the Town and maintained pleasant relations with old
friends as well.
During 1963 Dr: Frederick Moore held two more immuni-
zation clinics and conducted physical examinations on pupils
at school from grades 1, 4, and 8. These were part of his
last services to us before his retirement. His interest in the
welfare of Mashpee has always been strong and we shall
indeed miss him.
Three Oral vaccine clinics for poliomyelitis prevention
were held in January, March and May with excellent attend-
ance at each. A total of 570 doses were administered.
Children of Samuel G. Davis School were transported to
Dr. Crawford's office in Cotuit by Mrs. Ellen Hendricks and
myself. Eighteen clinics were held and 33 different chil-
dren received treatment. Also in connection with our Dental
Health program, Mrs. Alice Dalzell, dental hygienist for Barn-
stable County, screened 181 pupils regarding necessary treat-
ment. This aids us in selecting those who need dental work
Performed in our regular clinic.
Educational films were presented to the girls of 10 years
of age upward and talks on health and safety were given to
Grades 1 and 2. Both of these attempts to provide health-
ful education were well received.
Over 500 home visits were made during this year as we
both became better acquainted. It has truly been my pleasure
to work with such fine cooperative people as I have come in
contact with. My particular thanks to all members of the
