38
Report of the Recreation Committee
To the Honorable Selectmen and the
Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
The following was purchased by the
Recreation Com-
mittee:
Basketball goals and nets
$16.95
Record hop and party (refreshments)
11.20
Basketball gym mats and protective pads
392.00
Reinforcing basketball frame and labor
45.28
Softball bats and balls
36.26
Volley ball plates & aluminum standards
80.53
Basketball uniforms and basketball
80.50
$662.72
Deposited in the Barnstable County Bank is $100.00 to
the Mashpee Baseball Athletic Fund, a gift donated last year
by Mr. Delizza for baseball.
The committee is planning a bigger program in recrea-
tion this year. There seems to be enough interest in basket-
ball and volley ball to organize a small recreation league
within the town. Soft ball seemed to be catching on last
year and we hope that it will grow bigger in the town this
year.
Our aim is for a bigger program, but it will not be suc-
cessful unless we have the support of the citizens.
Recreation in this town is at an all time low. There are
a few citizens that realize this fact and help as best they can.
There are many, and we emphazise the word many, that want
recreation, but don't want to give the time when there is
work to be done.
