Welfare Report
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
Gentlemen:
The year 1964 showed a decrease in our Public Welfare
expenditures for the first time in many years.
The expenditure of $40,935.49 for the year 1964 is less by
$16,189.65 than the $57,125.15, expended in 1963, and is
$11,148.21 less than in 1962.
The 1964 expenditures show a reduction from 1963 of
$3,080.41 in Old Age Assistance, $3,301.90 in Medical Assist-
ance, $1,011.00 in Aid to Dependent Children, $7,051.79 in
Disability Assistance, and $1,850.89 in General Relief. Our
Administrative Expenditures were $106.84 greater than in
1963.
The $14,180.37 expended in 1964 for Medical Care was
34.696 of our total expenditures and was $14,666.32 less than
the $28,864.69 Medical Expenses in 1963. The large factor in
our reduced expenditures was the decreased need of our cli-
ents for hospital care. This year our hospital costs were
$3,142.99; -compared to the $19,006.44, it is a reduction of
$15,863.45.
shares and net cost to Mashpee are as follows:
