30
Report of the Fire Department
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen,
Town of Mashpee:
I hereby submit my report for the year ending December
31, 1965.
There were 83 calls during the year. As it is my duty to
keep the Public informed of the condition of the fire equip-
ment, we have Engine #1, a 1957 model, in class A condition,
Engine #2, a 1950 model, in good condition, Engine #3, a 1942
Brush Breaker, fair condition and tank truck #5, a 1939 model,
is in poor condition and parts are not available for repairs.
I have asked for this truck to be replaced by a combination
pumper and brush breaker so if anything major gives out
on truck #3 we can still have sufficient forest fire equipment
to operate. We must remember the only water we have to
fight fires is that carried on the trucks and that includes all
sections of the town.
The following is a breakdown of calls:
Car Fires 17
Grass Fires 30
House 4
Rescue 4
Miscellaneous a
Dump Fires 26
Respectfully submitted,
ELLSWORTH PETERS,
Fire Chief
