13
Report of the Board of Health
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and Citizens of Mashpee:
During the year 1971, the Board of Health made available
to the Town the services of nursing facilities, clinics, sani-
tation, immunization and professional care.
Due to the vast growth in development in the Town, the
cesspool construction work permits increased from 110 to 173
permits and the sewage installer permits issued, doubled.
The dental clinic was conducted at Dr. Robert A. Riley's
office in Osterville, Mass. We urge the parents to continue
participating in this program.
Dr. Hutchins F. Inge of Osterville, Mass. conducted the
immunization clinic at the school which proved to be success-
ful.
Our major problem the past year has been our disposal
area. Due to the "Regulations for the Control of Air Pollution
in the Southeastern Mass. Air Pollution Control District", we
were required to stop burning refuse at the disposal area,
along with a vast number of rules and regulations to control
the disposal area. We had to also hire a contractor to cover
most of the refuse daily which was brought into the area.
More fencing had to be installed and the gate opening made
larger. The full time attendant and relief men have done a
tremendous job enforcing the by-laws and regulations gov-
erning the disposal area.
We wish to thank the visting Nurse Association. Barn-
stable County Board of Health, the various Officials and De-
partments of the Town for their co-operation and assistance
in the past year.
Respectfully submitted,
E. EDWARD LASHLEY, Chairman
HARRIET C. DALY, Clerk
