rl
i
I J5
ivandalism, a burglar alarm system has been installed in
the Highway-Department. (Please note one snow plow dump
truck has not been delivereddue to manufacturing prob-
lems, but is expected by the__time this report reaches you.)
We are proud of these departments. They are working in
confining quarters, under crowded conditions, nevertheless,
the services rendered by these departments to the towns-
people are equivalent to those of much larger.. areas with
more sophisticated equipment.
The Highway .Department has been busy with main-
taining roads and lanes throughout the Town. Route 151
was surfaced for 1,540 linear feet by 26 feet wide and 1%11
thick; Total :cost:of construction $4,500.00. Great Neck Road
`under Chapter 90 Construction combined with Chapter 1140
was reconstructed from Station 40 to Station 95, approx-
imately 5,500 linear feet. Total cost of reconstruction
$42,000. Cost of other maintenance of roads and.lanes is
submitted within the Highway Department's Report.
Under Article 73 the town voted to accept Section 6-I
of Chapter 40 of the General Laws. By acceptance of this
section, the town may construct, resurface and repair any
private way which has been used by the public for fifty
:years or more; provided the owners of land abutting on any
` such way petition such town to do such work.
f We are pleased to note Rock Landing Road was brought
up to town specifications by the New Seabury Corporation,
to the benefit of the residents of that area. General main-
tenance will be provided from time to time.
Fred O. Earle of Sandwich, Massachusetts, was awarded
the bid to supply the Town Hall with fuel oil.
The Board is making every effort to have available up-
to-date Town By-laws booklets. Many new policies. will.be
executed through our Executive Secretary for smoother
operations within departments. The following reports of
town officials, committees, commissions and boards will in-
dicate the expansion of Mashpee. The man-hours, and they
are many, are given freely and willingly to meet this growth.
We, the Board, wish to thank each and every one for their
interest, their time, and their.devotion.
Respectfully submitted,
FRANK E. HICKS, Chairman
KEVIN D. O'CONNELL
RANDOLPH G. PETERS. .
Board of Selectmen
t
S i:4
