This report will be available
in early 1976.
Our Selectmen, along with Falmouth and Sandwich, were invited to welcome
Emperor and Empress Hirohito to Cape Cod, (after a letter to the President
stating Mashpee had been again ignored and omitted from the official list. )
In conjunction with long range planning, we have initiated a Capital Outlay
Program for the Town of Mashpee. Departments are to project their capital
needs for 1 - 10 years. Money will then be budgeted and the tax impact minimized.
The supplemental CETA placements within our Town departments augmented
our work force and muchhas been accomplished. We extend our thanks to these
individuals and the program itself.
Commencing October 1, 1975, the Selectmen changed their scheduled Wednes-
day evening meetings to Wednesday afternoons. This has proven to be very suc-
cessful and we hope to be able to further extend our scheduled hours.
Mashpee's first Executive Secretary, Brent C. McMahan's resignation became
effective August 31, 1975, after serving in this capacity for 10 months. This post
remained vacant until March 1, 1976, when Frank Hicks resigned his Selectman's
post and was appointed to a three-year term as Executive Secretary.
The audit, as called for by the Board of Selectmen, on the Highway Accounts
was conducted by the Director of the Bureau of Accounts and completed November
3, 1975. A report is on record with the Town Clerk. The audit covered a period
of January 1, 1973 to June 30, 1975. All expenditures were reconciled and verified,
The report of the Superintendent of Streets contains all the streets laid out and
constructed.
I
Bid to furnish Town Hall Offices with fuel oil was awarded to Peters Fuel Oil
Company.
As can be seen, much has been accomplished during 75/76; yet, future
planning is our main concern for the years ahead. Some of these concerns are:
Sanitary Landfill Program
Municipal Water Supply
16
