REPORT OF THE PLANNING BOARD During 1975, the Planning Board approved four subdivisions as listed: NAME OR LOCATION TYPE # OF LOTS ACREAGE Off Route#28 Commercial 14 5 Wags Rd - Off Rt#28 Residential 1 27 Off Route#130 Commercial 12 6 Quashnet Valley Residential 24 12 Total 51 50 In addition, the Board signed fifteen "Approved Not Required" plans and reviewed five preliminary plans. A total of$1,142.00 was received for hearings and the sale of maps and by-laws. The economy, as approved subdivisions, has slowed considerably. The Planning Board is now able to attend to matters of extreme importance to the town, namely the planned preservation and development of Mashpee. Our sudden increase in population is placing pressure on town officials to formulate a schematic means of solving immediate and long-range problems. To this end, the Planning Board has initiated a joint effort between the local, regional and state planning agencies to effect future guidelines for Mashpee development. This study should be completed in the Spring of 1976. Our town was one of eight selected to participate in the State's Growth Study Program. Many local citizens were asked for their personal views and ideas as to the future direction of Mashpee. To these people, the Planning Board extends their thanks. We are at a critical period in our town's history. Decisions we make today will decide our future. All citizens will be affected. Only a joint effort on the part of the town officials and the citizens of Mashpee will make the right decisions. We on the Board urge you to take part in the decision-making. The Planning Board is open at all times to your thoughts and feelings. 1976 is a milestone in the Nation's history. 1976 will also be a milestone in Mashpee's history.
