<br /> Treasurer/Tax Collector
<br /> During fiscal 1990, the downturn in the economy was
<br /> reflected in decreased tax collections. It appeared that the
<br /> Town might end up with an operating deficit.
<br /> One of Mashpee's time share complexes was in arrears
<br /> for $253,242 of 1989 real estate taxes. I spent several
<br /> months working with the management committee of unit
<br /> owners in an attempt to resolve this matter by year end.
<br /> I am happy to report that on June 27, 1990, I deposited
<br /> a check for $297,162 representing the $253,342 of back
<br /> taxes and $43,820 of interest and charges.
<br /> This deposit, along with the$404,217 of interest earn-
<br /> ed during the year helped the Town end the fiscal year
<br /> with a surplus.
<br /> Following is pertinent information from both of my
<br /> departments.
