Town Seal Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 7, 2021 <br /> VIA ZOOM <br /> Present: Chair David Weeden,Theresa Cook, Patricia DeBoer, Evan Lehrer, Kathleen Mahoney <br /> Absent: Joan Avant-Tavares, Brian Weeden <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman David Weeden at 5 pm <br /> VIA ZOOM <br /> MINUTES <br /> Approval of the following:Tuesday, March 3, 2020 <br /> Motion made by Mr. Lehrer to approve the minutes of the March 3,2020 meeting. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. DeBoer. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0(2 absent) <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. D.Weeden,yes Ms.Avant-Tavares,absent Ms. Cook,yes Ms. DeBoer,yes <br /> Mr. Lehrer,yes Ms. Mahoney,yes Mr. B.Weeden,absent <br /> Opposed, none <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Discussion of Concepts for the Town Seal <br /> Patricia DeBoer, Evan Lehrer, and David Weeden shared pictures and drawings (one from Joan Avant-Tavares)of <br /> some ideas for a new Town Seal. <br /> The members of the Committee all agreed that water, shell fishing,fishing, and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe <br /> should be featured on a new Town Seal. <br /> Update on Discussion with the Town Manager re: Professional Designer-David Weeden <br /> Mr. Weeden stated that he had not discussed this with the Town Manager yet, but will report at the next meeting. <br /> The members stated that this committee needs to refine the concepts before engaging a professional designer and <br /> further it will be at least October 2021 or May 2022 before the final Town Seal will realistically be brought to Town <br /> Meeting for adoption. <br /> Discussion and Creation of a Town Seal Survey <br /> Discussion of Distribution of a Town Seal Survey <br /> The above two items were discussed simultaneously. Evan Lehrer suggested that all members of the Committee <br /> submit up to ten symbols that they feel should be included in the revised Town Seal. A survey will be created to <br /> send to Mashpee residents to comment and rank as to the importance of these symbols appearing on the Town <br /> Seal <br /> This survey could be distributed through Constant Contact or a Survey Monkey or other similar electronic means. <br /> The Committee members agreed to submit symbols, etc and discuss at the next meeting. Mr. Lehrer agreed to <br /> create a template for discussion. <br />
