10
yi
,
I!
r
Report of the Selectmen
I'
i
We are happy to report that our Town is in excellent fi-
nancial condition. With the steady influx of new land and
home owners, our valuation has steadily increased. A great
t. number of families have built new cottages with the intention
of making Mashpee their permanent home, as many others
have already done.
A number of projects that were authorized at our last
t Annual Town Meeting have been completed.
Chapter 81 and 90 projects were completed as per sche-
dule. New construction on Great Neck Road will be further
continued 1 this year under Chapter 90. Town roads under
Chapter 81 were oiled and graded with these projects also to
be continued this year. Under Chapter 90 maintenance,
Route 130 from the Town Hall to the Fire Barn was oiled and
stoned.
Two new spinner type sanding machines were also pur-
" chased for the Highway Department.
I
Additional street lights have been installed on Route 130,
as requested by the Annual Meeting.
A new Police Two-Way Radio was purchased from the
Motorola Co. We now have the same set as all the other
departments in Barnstable County. The transmitting and
receiving results have been excellent.
We purchased 1,000 feet of 21/2 inch fire hose for the Fire
Department, which was put out to bid. The contract was
awarded to the Justin McCarthy Company of Boston.
The roof of the Fire Station was newly shingled with
asphalt shingles. The work was put out to bid and the suc-
cessful bidder was Henry C. Labute of John's Pond, Mashpee.
VIII
 ' I
