12
s
i Report of the Board of Health
s
` This is the final report of this Board as a part of the
' Board of Selectmen. You will remember the Town voted to
separate the Board of Health from the Board of Selectmen.
For that reason we have submitted an article establishing an
expense account for the Board of Health.
The Board of Selectmen will be happy to pass on any
information it has to the new Board to make its task of
setting up the new department easier.
There are several conditions and problems which will
require some attention in the very near future. One problem
which is facing this board is the fact that it has little or no
Iq
rules or regulations under which it can operate. True, it
can always invoke the state statutes, but these are in most
t instances not drawn up to cope with the local problems. The
County Health Department will be glad to co-operate in
drawing up these rules and regulations.
3 Another major problem is the present dump or disposal
M area which for several years has been a source of complaints
'+ because of its location and condition. We believe the condi-
tion has been improved somewhat by having an attendant
at the dumps for a limited number of days during the heavy
dumping season, burning when possible and occasional bull-
dozing; the work at the dump is of course limited by the
r `I budget under which it is done. The area could be kept in
. better condition with the expenditure of more money and/or
" more cooperation from the people who use this area by
TIE dumping their refuse in the proper place at the dump.
l
Now, as to relocating the Town dump. We are recom-
mending an area between Rte. 28 and Meeting House Road on
e the Northerly side of Ashers Path. This is a large area with
i '
