• The Selectmen support the Tribal Council's <br /> plans for a tourist attraction along the Mashpee <br /> River corridor. <br /> • The Board of Selectmen continue to support eco- <br /> nomic development and applaud the efforts of the <br /> Economic Development Committee. The <br /> Selectmen are also working cooperatively with <br /> the Chamber of Commerce, the Conservation <br /> Commission and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal <br /> Council by encouraging activities associated with <br /> "green" tourism. <br /> The new enhanced 911 (E-911) system for emer- <br /> gency police, fire and rescue calls became opera- <br /> tional. <br /> • Mashpee was named a World War II <br /> Commemorative Community by the United <br /> States Department of Defense and participated in <br /> � a number of activities recognizing the triumphs <br /> �II � and sacrifices of World War IL <br /> • The annual Flag Day Parade was held in con- <br /> junction with the Mashpee Post VFW. <br /> • The Board of Selectmen continue to share con- <br /> cern regarding the underground contamination <br /> emanating from the Massachusetts Military <br /> j Reservation. We now have Selectmen repre- <br /> sentation, along with the Boards of Selectmen <br /> from Bourne, Falmouth and Sandwich, on <br /> senior management board overseeing the <br /> clean-up activity. <br /> • The Selectmen have entered into an inter- <br /> municipal agreement with the Town of <br /> Sandwich to construct and operate a regional <br /> septage treatment plant to be located on the <br /> Massachusetts Military Reservation. <br /> • A major change will take place in the Board of <br /> l Selectmen this May, as Selectmen Judy Mills <br /> and Jim Vaccaro are both retiring. <br /> �. <br /> 7 <br /> The Board of Selectmen extends its heartfelt thanks <br /> to those who have participated in town government <br /> ents who have not get <br /> and encourages resid <br />` involved.
