Report of the Board of Selectmen <br /> To the citizens of the Town of Mashpee <br /> On behalf of the Board of Selectmen, I am pleased to submit to the residents of Mashpee, the <br /> following report for Calendar Year 2009. <br /> Listed below are some of the accomplishments for the Board of Selectmen and Town Manager <br /> during the previous year: <br /> • In May 2009 we welcomed a new Selectman, Michael Richardson <br /> • We would like to thank George "Chuckie" Green, Jr. for his dedication and years of <br /> service to the Town. <br /> • Accepted the resignation of Beverly Kane. Ms. Kane was a vital member of the Planning <br /> Board and we thank her for her expertise and commitment over many years. <br /> • Solicited bids and completed the Wind Turbine Feasibility Study <br /> • Continued efforts for designation as a green community by: <br /> o Adopting single-stream recycling <br /> o Establishing a fuel-efficient fleet policy <br /> o Adopted the Stretch Energy Code <br /> o Passage of key bylaws to qualify as a green community <br /> 0 Constructed a new LEED Certified Library <br /> • Participated in the Mashpee Reads Campaign <br /> • Established the Mashpee Community Garden <br /> • Accepted the resignation of Assistant Town Manager, Rene Read, who moved on to <br /> become the Town Administrator in Hanson, MA <br /> • Became a member of the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative, Inc. <br /> • Solicited proposals and started the Santuit Pond Diagnostic Study which will be <br /> completed in 2010 <br /> • Placed a referendum ballot question on the May 2009 Election Warrant regarding trash <br /> disposal <br /> • Formed the Sign Bylaw review committee <br /> 0 Hired the Town's first mechanic in an effort to curtail vehicle costs <br /> 6 <br />
