Submitted by the Police Department Explanation-. The two additional police officer positions will be assigned by the Chief of Police to the Patrol Division of the Police Department in order to accomplish community-policing duties important to the successful completion of the department's mission. In addition to the 25% funding requested for these two police positions, a federal grant, "Cops Universal Hiring" awarded to the Town of Mashpee will provide 75% of the two police officers' salaries over a three-year period. Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval of one patrolman position. Motion made by John Cahalane. Motion: I move the Town vote to create two full-time police officer positions, and further, the Town vote to raise and appropriate $37,904, with said funds to be distributed as follows: $15,0�70 to the Police Salary/Wage Account, $16,890 to the Medical Insurance Account, $874 to the Medicare Account, $70 to the Group Insurance Account, and$5000 to the Police Expense Account. Motion passes unanimously at 9:11 p.m. Article 12 To see if the Town will vote to create the position of part-time clerk under the Personnel Administration Plan, Grade 4, Step 1, for the Mashpee Police Department and further to raise and appropriate $10,450, with said funds to be distributed as follows: $9,707 to the Police Salary/Wage Account and $743 to the Medicare Account, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by the Police Department Explanation-, This 18-hour per week part-tiirne clerk position will be assigned duties in the Mashpee Police Department Administration Division, Clerical Services & Central Records unit. Specifically, the part-time clerk position will be assigned primarily to administrative duties, completing accounting and financial systems support, and will provide backup support for the firearms licensing and records clerks, which are also both part-time positions. This position will provide better administrative support, eliminate the need to pay for floating clerical coverage and will ensure an enhanced level of customer service. Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. Motion made by Wayne Taylor. Motion: I move the Town vote to create a part-time Clerk position under the Personnel Administration Plan, Grade IV, for the Mashpee Police Department, and further, the Town vote to raise and appropriate $10,450, with said funds to be distributed as follows: $9707 to the Police Salary/Wage Account, and $743 to the Medicare Account. 0 0 Motion passes unanimously at 9:13 p.m. Article 13 To see if the Town will vote to create the position of part-time Assistant Animal Control Officer (16 hours per week) under the Town's Personnel Administration Plan, Grade 8, Step 1, and within the Mashpee Police Department and further to raise and appropriate $11,859, with said funds to be distributed as follows: $11,016 to the Aniirnal Control Salary/Wage Account and $843 to the Medicare Account, or take any other action relating thereto. 20
