The two additional police officer positions will be assigned by the Chief of Police to the Patrol <br /> Division of the Police Department in order to accomplish community-policing duties important to the successful <br /> completion of the department's mission. In addition to the 25% funding requested for these two police <br /> positions, a federal grant, "Cops Universal Hiring" awarded to the Town of Mashpee will provide 75% of the <br /> two police officers' salaries over a three-year period. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval of one patrolman position. <br /> Motion made by John Cahalane. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to create two full-time police officer positions, and further, the Town vote to <br /> raise and appropriate $37,904, with said funds to be distributed as follows: $15,0�70 to the Police Salary/Wage <br /> Account, $16,890 to the Medical Insurance Account, $874 to the Medicare Account, $70 to the Group <br /> Insurance Account, and$5000 to the Police Expense Account. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 9:11 p.m. <br /> Article 12 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to create the position of part-time clerk under the Personnel Administration Plan, <br /> Grade 4, Step 1, for the Mashpee Police Department and further to raise and appropriate $10,450, with said <br /> funds to be distributed as follows: $9,707 to the Police Salary/Wage Account and $743 to the Medicare <br /> Account, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Police Department <br /> Explanation-, This 18-hour per week part-tiirne clerk position will be assigned duties in the Mashpee Police <br /> Department Administration Division, Clerical Services & Central Records unit. Specifically, the part-time clerk <br /> position will be assigned primarily to administrative duties, completing accounting and financial systems support, <br /> and will provide backup support for the firearms licensing and records clerks, which are also both part-time <br /> positions.
