Motion made to dispense with reading of article. <br /> Motion to dispense with reading of article passes at 9:54 p.m. <br /> Motion passes at 9:54 p.m. <br /> Article 25 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to petition the Great and General Court for <br /> special legislation to enable the Board of Selectmen, as the licensing authority under Mass. General Laws, <br /> Chapter 138, to issue additional licenses under Section 12 of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138 for the sale of <br /> alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises provided any such license(s) is issued in conformance with all <br /> other provisions of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138 and is issued in conjunction with a common victualler's <br /> license under Mass. General Laws , Chapter 140 to conduct a restaurant, or in conjunction with a innholder's <br /> license under Mass. General Laws, Chapter 140 to conduct a hotel, or in conjunction with a club license, under <br /> Section 12 of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138,, or in conjunction with a license given to a war veterans <br /> organization under Section 12 of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138. Said special act shall be substantially in a <br /> form as follows: <br /> 'Notwithstanding Section 17 of Chapter 138 of the Mass. General Laws, or any other special or general law to <br /> the contrary, the licensing authority of the Town of Mashpee may issue additional licenses for the sale of <br /> alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises under the provisions of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138, <br /> Section 12, provided any such license(s) is granted in conjunction with a common victualler's license under <br /> Mass. General Laws, Chapter 140 to conduct a restaurant, or in conjunction with an innholder's license under <br /> Mass. General Laws, Chapter 140 to conduct a hotel, or in conjunction with a club license under Section 12 of <br /> Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138, or in conjunction with a license given to a war veterans organization under <br /> Section 12 of Mass. General Laws, Chapter 138. Any such license so issued shall be subject to all other <br /> provisions of said Chapter 138.", <br /> or to take any other action.relating thereto. <br /> Explanation: This article seeks to sponsor legislation to create additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic <br /> beverages to be consumed on premises when such licenses are in conjunction with a restaurant, inn, club, or <br /> war veterans, organization. The Town is currently at its limit of fourteen licenses for alcohol to be consumed on <br /> the premises. <br /> Motion made by John Cahalane. <br /> Motion: I move Article 25 be voted as printed in the warrant, with the exception of the phrase, "or take any <br /> other action relating thereto". <br /> Motion made to dispense with reading of article. <br /> Motion to dispense with reading of article passes at 9:55 p.m. <br /> Motion made to amend at 10:01 p.m. <br /> Motion to amend defeated at 10�:01 p.m. <br /> Motion passes at 10:02 p.m. <br /> Motion made to extend Town Meeting until 10:30 p.m. at 10:0�3 p�.m. <br /> 27 <br />
