Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) has recommended renovating the lower
ladder at the same time, as its design and dimensions are 4inadequate to handle the potential
population size indicated by the spawning area available in Mashpee-Wakeby Pond." This
improvement would be the last in the series of upper River improvements that have been done
in, the past several years (dredging, revetment, and jetty work, stream bank stabilization), and
would eliminate the last "bottleneck" for herring passage. DMF would provide design work and
labor. If we contracted out for the work in its entirety, it would cost over $75,000.
Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval.
Motion made by Selectman Caffyn.
0
Motion: I move the Town vote to raise and appropriate $4,500 to the Herring Warden Ladder
Account.
Motion passes at 7:57 p.m.
Article 18
To see if the Town will vote to reclassify the position of Administrative Clerk in Personnel to
full-time, Grade 4, under the Personnel Administration Plan., and to raise and appropriate or
transfer from available funds $15,417 with said funds to be distributed as follows: $9,694 to the
Personnel Salary/Wage Account, $36 for the Group Insurance Account, $206 for the Medicare
Account, and $5,481 for the Medical Insurance Account.
Submitted by the Personnel Board
Explanation: As other Town departments continue to grow and expand, the Personnel
Department's duties and responsibilities are directly impacted. These additional demands are
difficult to meet with the current staffing of one part time Administrative Clerk. Approval of
this article will increase the hours of the current part time position from 19 hours weekly to 37
1/2 hours weekly.
Recommendation: Finance Committee to make recommendation at Town Meeting.
Motion made by Selectman Dinizio.
Motion: I move the Town vote to reclassify the position of Administrative Clerk in Personnel
to fall-time, Grade 4 under the Personnel Administration Plan, and vote to raise and, appropriate
$15,417 with said funds to be distributed as follows: $9,694 to the Personnel, Salary/Wage
Account, $36 for the Group Insurance Account, $206 for the Medicare Account, and $5,481 for
the Medical Insurance Account.
Motion made to amend to 'Indefinitely postpone passes 96-81 at 8:12 p.m.
Motion to indefinitely postpone passes 108-76 at 8:12 p.m.
Article 19
19
