Article 5 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to amend the Town bylaws by adding the following section: 40-7-a to Chapter 40 <br /> When a two-thirds vote is required by statute, the moderator may simply declare that the vote passed by the <br /> necessary two-thirds majority in accordance with General Laws Chapter 39, Section 15. Seven voters can <br /> question the moderator's declaration of the vote, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Town Clerk <br /> Explanation: We have been advised by Counsel to include this in our bylaws. <br /> Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion by Jane Labute, Town Clerk. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to amend Town bylaws by adding Section 40-7-a to Chapter 40 as printed in the <br /> warrant except for the phrase, "or take any other action relating thereto." <br /> Motion defeated at 8:18 p.m. <br /> Article 6 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money to fund a <br /> contract between the Town and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Local 389, Units A and/or B, <br /> for the period beginning July 1, 1998, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: This article is placed on the warrant to provide funding for a contract between the Town and the <br /> International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Local 389, Units A and/or B. At the time of publication, <br /> negotiations were ongoing and no figures were available. It is estimated that any settlement will not exceed <br /> $100,000. <br /> Motion made by George Costa. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to raise and appropriate $10,000 to the Police Salary/Wage Account and $1,000 <br /> to the Police Expense Account to fund a contract between the Town and the International Brotherhood of Police <br /> Officers, local 389, Unit B, for the period beginning July 1, 1998. <br /> Motion passes at 8:21 p.m. <br /> Article 7 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to approve the annual regional school district budget for the Cape Cod Regional <br /> Technical High School District for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998, in the amount of $7,219,532, and <br /> further, to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $492,527 to meet its share of the cost of operation <br /> and maintenance of the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School District for the fiscal year beginning July 1, <br /> 1998, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Treasurer <br /> 13 <br />
