Article 8 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds <br /> $35,000 to the Mashpee River Dredging Permit Account, to be expended under the <br /> direction of the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Waterways Commission <br /> Explanation: This article seeks supplemental funding for obtaining permits to dredge <br /> the Mashpee River. Permits for dredging the Mashpee River are in the process of <br /> being obtained, and costs of this effort are expected to exceed the balance remaining in <br /> the account previously established for this purpose. A better estimate will be available <br /> by Town Meeting, but at this time we are using our best estimate. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and transfer $35,000 from the <br /> Waterways Improvement Account to the Mashpee River Dredging Account. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 8:45 p.m. <br /> Article 9 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds, <br /> $47,000 to be distributed as follows: $17,000 to the Waterways Equipment Account <br /> and $30,000 to the Waterways Maintenance Account, to be expended under the <br /> direction of the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Waterways Commission <br /> And Harbormaster <br /> Explanation: This article seeks funding for: <br /> Additional boat and navigational aid equipment as required, and, performing <br /> maintenance dredging of the Popponesset Bay and Waquoit Bay channels when and as <br /> required. <br /> Permits already exist for the Popponesset Bay and Waquoit Bay dredging; the cost <br /> ranges from $4.52 to $7.00 per cubic yard depending on the length of pipe required. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br />
