Motion passes unanimously at 8:51 p.m. Article 13 To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money to the Stabilization Account, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen Explanation: This article places funds from available revenue in the Town's Stabilization Fund. The Finance Committee has established a goal for the Stabilization Account of five percent of the total budget. At the time of publication, the amount available for transfer was not finalized. The estimate of funds available for this transfer is $2.1 million. Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. Motion made by Selectman Taylor. Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and transfer from Revenue Available for Appropriation $2,000,000 to the Stabilization Account. Motion passes at 8:51 p.m. Article 14 To see if the Town will vote to have its elected Treasurer/Tax Collector become an appointed Treasurer/Tax Collector of the Town according to MGL Chapter 41, Section 1B, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen Explanation: This article seeks to change the Town's Treasurer/Tax Collector from an elected position to an appointed position. With the announced retirement of the Town's long-time Treasurer/Tax Collector, this change will guarantee the long-term stability and professionalism of this key financial Department Head position. This office is responsible for handling collections and disbursements of over thirty million dollars annually. Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval.
